Fallout 4 came out in 2015, and it remains a great game well worth any Fallout fan's time. Even so, we're long overdue for a sequel. Bethesda hasn't officially announced Fallout 5, but the game is currently in its pre-production phase, with plenty of rumors and leaks starting to trickle in. Since the studio tends to work on only one game at a time, and it's currently busy with The Elder Scrolls 6, it might be a while before we see a sequel to the beloved franchise.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters have officially been announced, but Fallout 4 seems to be left behind in the dust as the next game nears. Luckily, the modding community has been keeping Fallout 4 alive and chugging along over a decade later. There have been countless mods and upgrades made to the title since its release—and one fan has decided to combine practically all of them and bring Fallout 4 into the modern age. It might not be Fallout 5, but it definitely looks like it.

YouTuber DigitalDreamsyt shows off a version of Fallout we've never seen before. In a half-hour video, the YouTuber gives fans a glimpse into Fallout 4 with a whopping 1170+ different mods installed. These include Ray Tracing, visual and performance upgrades, and many small and large changes to the 11-year-old game.

The result looks like it could be footage from Fallout 5. There's detailed texture on all the walls and objects, dynamic lighting, and cool effects. The Radroaches look and sound too realistic for comfort, the sky is vast and beautiful, and the wasteland stretches as far as the eye can see.

Halfway through, the YouTuber triggers a nuclear fallout, and the visuals this creates are spectacular. A mushroom cloud rises in the distance and fills the sky with an orange hue that blocks out the sun except a few rays of light. In short, the ultra-modded game looks amazing.

Of course, this super-modded version of Fallout 4 isn't perfect. Many of the comments want to know why the vault's floor is so shiny, including YouTube user push935, who asks: "Why is everything covered in vegetable oil?" Other comments wonder why the Commonwealth suddenly looks like the Mojave Desert. The video's creator admits that they "just wanted to test this with all the sand."

While we wait for Fallout 5, mods like the ones seen in this video can make the previous title exciting and new again. Of course, you don't need over 1170 mods to change Fallout 4 into something that's worth another playthrough while you wait for the next entry in the Fallout franchise. All it takes is a couple of the best mods the community has to offer.
