Fortnite and Bleach are reuniting, eight months after the anime first came to the game. On Tuesday, Epic Games teased a new Bleach crossover for the battle royale game coming later this week, with two new characters joining the fray.
The Bleach characters that made it into Fortnite last December were Ichigo Kurosaki, Rukia Kuchiki, Uryu Ishida, and Orihime Inoue. Players could purchase them separately or as part of the Bleach Bundle, which featured all four characters and their respective cosmetics for a total of 4,000 V-Bucks. These cosmetics have rotated back into the store a few times, and whenever they return, fans always have hope that they will be featured in the Item Shop alongside new Bleach cosmetics.
It seems that their wishes are finally being granted, as a second wave of skins is just around the corner due to a collab between Fortnite and Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. On Aug. 4, the official German Fortnite account posted a YouTube short teasing the release of two character skins, Yoruichi Shihōin and Kisuke Urahara, alongside the caption, "Don't blink. We're expecting you."
At the end of the teaser, the date Aug. 8 appears, revealing when these Bleach skins will be available in Fortnite. The Item Shop resets at 2 a.m. CEST in Germany, which is why the skins' release date appears as Saturday. In the United States, Bleach cosmetics will be live in the shop on Aug. 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
It is likely that there won't be any gameplay features related to Bleach and that this is just a cosmetic collab. On the bright side, it is quite probable that the first wave of Bleach skins will also return, giving players the opportunity to purchase them for the first time in three months. Hopefully, in the future, Fortnite will do a full-blown crossover event with Bleach as it has done with other anime series, such as Dragon Ball, My Hero Academia, and Attack on Titan.
