You, Me & Tuscany has bested rival rom-com Anyone But You during its debut weekend.

2026's You, Me & Tuscany, which debuted in theaters on April 10, stars Halle Bailey as a young woman who is caught squatting in an Italian villa and pretends to be the owner's fiancée, which leads her to fall for his cousin (Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page). It is one of the first wide-release romantic comedies to debut in theaters since 2023's smash hit Anyone But You, a modernization of Much Ado About Nothing starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney that grossed a whopping $220 million against its reported $25 million budget.

Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, You, Me & Tuscany is projected to earn a 3-day total of $8.3 million at the domestic box office by the end of its opening weekend. This is not enough for the new movie to debut any higher than No. 4 on the domestic chart for the weekend, as it is being outpaced by the blockbusters Project Hail Mary (No. 2 in its fourth weekend) and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (No. 1 in its sophomore weekend), as well as A24's buzzy and divisive The Drama (No. 3 in its sophomore weekend).

However, this sees the new romantic comedy movie outgrossing the opening weekend of Anyone But You, which debuted at No. 4 in 2023 with a $6 million haul. This debut total represents roughly half of You, Me & Tuscany's reported budget of $18 million. It still has a way to climb, as that budget most likely places its break-even point somewhere around $45 million. However, if its overall run is proportional to that of Anyone But You, it is possible that it could eventually climb to a worldwide total of $300 million or more.

However, it remains to be seen if You, Me & Tuscany is able to capture the momentum of Anyone But You. The 2023 movie was a major sleeper hit that had certain advantages that the new movie lacks. For instance, Anyone But You's success was spurred by tabloid rumors that stars Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney were dating behind the scenes. It also benefited from a release during the Christmas season, during which time movies typically have better audience retention week-over-week.

In fact, Anyone But You didn't drop at all during its second and third weekends in theaters, instead rising 45.9% and 11.4% respectively. You, Me & Tuscany, on the other hand, has debuted in the lead-up to the summer movie season, when the chart is typically dominated by a new blockbuster every week or two. During its sophomore weekend, it will face off against the new horror movie Lee Cronin's The Mummy, which is being followed into theaters by the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, giving the rom-com strong competition.

Regardless, You Me, & Tuscany reviews show that it has the potential to become an even bigger word-of-mouth success than Anyone But You. Even though its 63% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics is middling, it is still superior to the 2023 movie's 53%. More importantly, its 93% audience score at the time of writing is even better than Anyone But You's already strong 87%.
