Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Brooke marries her film-maker partner Lawton Charman in a secret ceremony in Barcelona

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Brooke has revealed she's married her film-maker partner Lawton Charman in Barcelona.

The actress is best known for her role as Rachel Hardy on the E4 soap, and played the role from 2015 to 2016 before her character was killed off.

Jennifer shared the news of her wedding on Instagram after she and Lawton tied the knot last month.

The soap star shared snaps of her stunning strapless ivory gown on Instagram, after her ceremony, which took place by the coast in the beachy town of Sitges.

Posting a carousel of images on social media, Jennifer captioned the post: 'I’ve lost my voice and gained a new second name. 10th July 2026…. We did the damn thing.'

The couple got engaged in May last year after a decade together.

Jennifer shared snaps of her engagement ring, along with the caption: '10 years later… she said ''yeah alright'''.

In June, Jennifer celebrated her hen party with her pals by jetting to Marrakech for a girls' getaway.

She shared a gallery of snaps from her trip away on Instagram as they partied together in the Moroccan hotspot.

Jennifer joined the cast of Hollyoaks as Rachel back in 2015, as a member of the Nightingale family.

However, her stint on the soap was short-lived as just six months later Rachel was killed off in a car explosion.

Jennifer went on to appear in the BBC sitcom White Gold, which follows a group of ambitious double-glazing salesmen in Essex in the 1980s, navigating workplace rivalries and the competitive sales world.

Last year she also made a guest appearance in Call The Midwife, and she has also starred in My Name Is Lenny and The Last Letter from Your Lover. 

In addition to performing, Brooke teaches acting to young people between the ages of two and 16 and, along with fellow Italia Conti graduate Samantha Shaw, is the co-director and a teacher of the B.O.S.S Acting School.

While Hollyoaks was once a fixture of the Channel 4 schedule, in recent months the soap has jumped on the streaming boom, moving to E4 and releasing episodes on demand and on YouTube.

In 2024, the soap was hit by a huge 'cast cull' in a bid to save money, with its episode count reduced to just three shows per week following a move to E4.

Channel 4 bosses cut budgets and slashed the number of episodes, announcing that the episode reduction would result in a loss of 135 jobs.

Lime Pictures, who make the soap for Channel 4, opened the consultation period and asked those who want to go to stick their hands up.

Channel 4 announced a round of job cuts in a bid to tighten its budgets in the wake of a 'sharp and protracted advertising slowdown'.
