Joan Cusack, Tom Hanks & More Shine Bright at Toy Story 5 Premiere
Taylor Swift Drops “I Knew It, I Knew You," Reunites With Jack Antonoff for ‘Toy Story 5’ Song
These toys see everything.
So, it’s a good thing the many celebrities attending the world premiere of Toy Story 5 in Los Angeles dressed to impress on June 9.
Among the many stars gracing the red carpet for the event were the film’s stars, including Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, who have voiced Woody and Buzz Lightyear for thirty years now, as well as the woman behind Jessie, Joan Cusack.
For his part, Hanks took inspiration from his character and donned a long-sleeved button down shirt beneath a black vest, brown slacks and a pair of leather boots. Meanwhile, Allen kept it simple with a sleek suit.
Cusack—who made her first red carpet appearance in over a decade at a Toy Story 5 event last month—donned an off-the-shoulder pantsuit while posing with her husband Richard Burke and their kids Dylan and Miles.
Also in attendance were returning cast members Wallace Shawn (Rex) and John Ratzenberger (Hamm), as well as newcomers Greta Lee (Lily Pad), Kristen Schaal (Trixie) and Craig Robinson (Atlas).
In this newest installment of the animated franchise, Lee plays a smart tablet that, who, despite her initially friendly temperament, soon becomes an antagonist after Jessie, Buzz and the other toys realize the technological toy is causing Bonnie (Scarlett Spears) to lose interest in playing with her toys or friends.
So, the toys recruit the help of Woody—who in Toy Story 4 decided to go off with Bo Peep on a mission to rescue lost toys—to help restore the natural order of childhood whimsy.

Taylor Swift herself also attended the movie’s premiere, which occurred just four days after the Grammy winner released the track she and Jack Antonoff wrote for the movie—a return to her country music roots called “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
For the 36-year-old, writing a song to join the franchise’s musical repertoire helmed by Randy Newman was a dream come true.

“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time,” Swift captioned a June 5 Instagram post about the song. “Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a @toystory kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”
And to Newman, she added, “You created the Toy Story musical world, and we are lucky to get to live in it.”
