Tim Burton-era Batman enthusiasts rejoice: After releasing virtually every variant of the Batmobile put to film, The Lego Group just announced a Batman Returns-inspired Batmobile. It's more than just stylish (and impractical). The Batman Returns Batmobile Lego set includes “six hidden Easter eggs” alongside an exclusive Batman minifigure.
“The latest in a series of LEGO Batman display models, this set brings the distinctive vehicle from Tim Burton’s Batman Returns to LEGO brick form for the very first time. Featuring authentic details, an innovative transformation function and hidden references from the film, the model celebrates one of Batman’s most memorable on-screen appearances.”
The set “recreates the sleek silhouette, intricate details and unforgettable transformation sequence of one of cinema’s most recognizable superhero vehicles,” the press release reads. As for dimensions, it’s four inches high, 17 inches long, and 6.5 inches wide. It will be released on Sept. 1, 2026, for Lego Insiders and Sept. 4 for everyone else.
Based on the Cape Crusader’s ride in the Michael Keaton-helmed flick, it’s a 2,269-piece set priced at $229.99.
Perhaps this Batmobile’s coolest feature is that, like in Batman Returns, it can transform. A button releases the vehicle’s side panels, turning it into the sleeker Batmissile. The press release touts that the Lego design team created three new Lego elements for the set, including a new Batman minifigure cowl. It’s rated for ages 18 and older, probably because it's aimed at adults who are nostalgic about a Michael Keaton-led Batman movie. The set is the latest Lego Batman display model, following up on previous builds like the Arkham Asylum set. Lego had previously done almost every other Batmobile, including the much bulkier Christopher Nolan variant.
Lego Batman has had a busy year. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was released this past May to a positive reception, with an 83 score on Metacritic and an Overwhelmingly Positive user rating on Steam. The game is more or less a spiritual sequel to the Batman Arkham games, with an open-world approach and a similar combat system.
The Dark Knight also recently returned to the screen with the second season of the animated show Batman: Caped Crusader. And of course, there’s the long-in-development film The Batman: Part 2, the sequel to the Robert Pattinson-led 2022 reboot. It just started filming in Glasgow and is scheduled for release on Feb. 18, 2028.
