The Lord of the Rings is coming back to physical media in a big way this fall, giving fans another chance to bring a piece of Middle-earth home just as the franchise prepares for its next major chapter.

Amazon MGM Studios and Alliance Home Entertainment have announced that the first two seasons of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will receive individual DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD releases in November. The sets will include behind-the-scenes bonus content, while collectors will have another option to consider later in the year.

In December, both seasons will also be released as Amazon-exclusive 4K Ultra HD gift sets featuring Steelbook packaging and collectible art cards. That makes the release particularly timely, with the third season of The Rings of Power set to arrive on Prime Video just days after the standard physical editions hit shelves.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1 debuted on Prime Video in September 2022, followed by season 2 in August 2024. The series has since become one of the streaming service's biggest shows, with more than 185 million viewers worldwide to date.

What's in store for The Rings of Power Season 3?

Season 3 will pick up with Middle-earth heading deeper into its war against Sauron, with the Dark Lord recruiting men who will eventually become the Nazgûl. He has not yet forged the One Ring, however, leaving the series with plenty of major Tolkien mythology still to explore.

One particularly intriguing storyline will involve Elrond and his long-lost twin brother, Elros. Robert Aramayo, who plays Elrond, will also portray Elros in a flashback showing the moment the brothers choose different paths: Elrond embraces immortality while Elros chooses mortality and becomes the founder of Númenor.

That decision will have an especially strong impact on Elrond when he travels to Númenor in the present day, where he is confronted with the kingdom his brother spent his mortal life building. The series will also finally bring Rivendell into the story, adding another major piece of Tolkien's world to the show.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres on Prime Video on Nov. 11, with the remaining episodes rolling out through Nov. 25. Seasons 1 and 2 will be available on disc on Nov. 3, with the Amazon 4K Steelbook due Dec. 1.
