Ewan is Deputy Editor for ScreenRant's gaming section. He still quite hasn’t gotten out of his mid 00’s emo phase, and knows more about The Legend of Zelda and Doctor Who than is probably healthy.

Ewan oversees the content operation of ScreenRant's gaming output, working with a talented team of writers and editors to cover everything from the latest GTA 6 news to the indie games you need on your radar.

Former Editor of GAMINGbible, Ewan also has words at Kotaku, Den of Geek, NME, and UNILAD. He's appeared on various podcasts, including VGC's and BBC's Let's Talk About Tech.

If you love the space opera bombast of Mass Effect and the moreish multiplayer loop of Destiny, there's an excellent free-to-play game you may well have been sleeping on. While I know there are a terrifying number of video games releasing in the next few months, why not do the responsible thing and dive into a sci-fi RPG that offers up a potential 700 hours of gameplay?

Between games like GTA 6 and Marvel's Wolverine, it's going to be hard to find time to play anything else for the rest of the year. With that said, if you're the kind of gamer who likes to log in to a game pretty much every day and see steady progress, or if you just love sci-fi vibes, this is the game for you.

Mass Effect And Destiny Fans Shouldn't Sleep On This RPG

Warframe

First released way back in 2013, you may well have heard of Warframe. But if you've never actually played the online action-RPG, here's a little taste of what it's all about: You take on warring factions throughout a sprawling interplanetary system with the help of the mysterious Lotus. You'll also level up your Warframe, a powerful bio-suit, and build up a deadly arsenal as you explore open worlds and cut through swathes of enemies.

"Enter your Warframe: a bio-metal suit of untold power," teases the game's synopsis. "Unleash its Abilities and wield a vast array of devastating weaponry to effortlessly annihilate hordes of enemies on sight. And when the slaughter is over, you can earn or instantly unlock 40+ different Warframes — each with a unique suite of powers — to re-experience the mayhem any way you want."

"Form a Squad with your friends and earn valuable bonus Rewards when you complete Missions together via highly collaborative, co-op gameplay. Utilize your Warframe’s Abilities to heal allies, redirect enemy fire, and achieve your objectives. Stuck on a particular challenge? In-game matchmaking makes it easy to connect with friendly Tenno whenever you need an extra hand."

Despite being released in 2013, Warframe is still going strong with regular updates. It's also available for free on pretty much every platform you can think of, including PC (Windows), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, and Android devices.

Warframe combines the mysterious ancient sci-fi civilization vibes of Mass Effect with a surprisingly deep story that's continued to evolve over the years. And if you're looking to scratch that Destiny itch, you'll find repeatable missions, loot chasing, lots of builds to explore, ability-heavy combat, co-op PvE, seasonal/live-service content, raids, and a constantly evolving arsenal.

If you're looking for a new game to really (and I mean really) sink your teeth into over the next few months, I'd definitely recommend Warframe. According to the website How Long To Beat, the game can take over 1,000 hours in single-player alone, so... have fun with that.
