Xbox Game Pass has once again been on another incredible run of free games recently, with plenty of critically acclaimed offerings that are well worth checking out. While PlayStation fans did get a win with the new trailer for an enhanced edition of Cyberpunk 2077, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers are getting day one access to another incredible cyberpunk game that is blowing players away with how gorgeous it looks.
Replaced Is Winning Over Xbox Game Pass Users
While the developers previously released a playable demo back in February, the full release of REPLACED is even more spectacular than we expected. The game might not have Cyberpunk 2077's GPU-testing demands, but it elevates a unique 2.5D setting to even greater heights thanks to the combination of its intricate lighting systems and detailed pixelated style.
Offering a "cyberpunk noir" thriller about an AI trapped in a human body on the run, REPLACED will see you navigating a unique post-apocalyptic version of the 1980s. Going beyond the limitations of most pixelated games, even the screenshots alone make it easy to see why players are so enamored. ShadowStrider_7 claims that they were "genuinely blown away by how it felt," noting that, while the game "was an easy 100%," they're "so sad that it’s over."
Given that REPLACED has a shorter length of roughly 8–14 hours, depending on how much you engage with its exploration and side content, it's also the perfect length to take advantage of your Game Pass Ultimate subscription to beat it over the weekend. If you don't have access with your subscription, however, REPLACED's $20 price tag feels more than fair for the experience.
While the more linear 2D gameplay and pixel art style might be off-putting to hear for some players, the unique style of Replaced is winning over skeptics. Huntingwhale establishes that they've "never been a fan of pixel graphics on next-gen systems," but admits that "this one looks pretty amazing."
It's A Great Time To Be A Cyberpunk Fan
New cyberpunk projects have been dropping left and right, with Replaced, the Cyberpunk 2077 card game, and even a new Ghost in the Shell reboot all being recent standouts. While the genre has been around for decades, it feels like there's no better time to be a fan than right now.
Even if REPLACED itself doesn't have as much repeatability as other large-scale projects, some of the best cyberpunk experiences tend to be on the shorter side more often than not. It's hard to complain about the length or more divisive aspects, like the combat systems, when the stylish fight sequences are backed by the excellent visuals and impactful soundtrack that fans can't seem to get enough of, making REPLACED well worth checking out for any Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber.
