Nicki Minaj's husband uses rape accuser's 1994 letter to DA against her amid new lawsuit over alleged attempted sexual assault

Nicki Minaj's husband Kenneth Petty, amid a civil lawsuit from a woman he was convicted of attempting to sexually assault, has submitted to the court a 1994 letter his accuser previously sent to the court in which she took back her story.

In a September 10 submission to the court reviewed by The Daily Mail, Petty's lawyer Steven D. Isser forwarded a 'signed and notarized letter to the District Attorney’s Office' apparently from his accuser, Jennifer Hough.

In the letter which The Daily Mail has obtained, Hough said that her rape accusations against Petty had been 'half true and half false;' and that she had dated Petty at one point and voluntarily went to the home on the day the alleged assault took place.

Hough's attorney Marjorie Mesidor denied the validity of the 1994 letter, saying that her client had never penned or signed it. 

'This exact tactic was attempted by Mr. Petty in 1994, and it was widely disregarded by the judge then just as it will be disregarded by the judge now,' Mesidor told The Daily Mail on Thursday. 

Mesidor added, 'The concept of a 16-year-old minor producing a typewritten recantation without parental consent is highly suspicious on its face - and this is simply not her signature.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Minaj and lawyers for Hough and Petty for further comment on the story.

Petty in April of 1995 had been convicted with first-degree attempted rape in New York in connection with the incident.

In the letter Petty says Hough sent the court in 1994, Hough said she hoped to 'drop charges' against Petty.

She said that marks on her neck were not a result of Petty choking her, but 'hickies' she got from another person the previous day.

Hough said in the letter that she had known Petty for years prior to the incident, and said she had been headed to school when he approached her saying he had 'something very important to talk to [her] about privately.'

She said that when she went to his home they began kissing, then argued and physically fought.

Hough wrote in the letter that Petty 'asked to make love with me again,' which she declined, at which point he said he would only let her leave the home if they had sex.

She said she ultimately relented because she 'wanted to leave' and 'was already late for school.'

Hough said that she was upset as she departed the residence and threw a water bottle in Petty's direction, to which he began chasing her and she fell down a staircase.

She said that after she told a friend about what had occurred, her friend advised her 'to go [to] the office and tell them' she had been sexually assaulted, as Hough made clear she hadn't wanted to have sex in the incident.

Hough said that people in the school had taken the incident 'out of proportion' and had been 'making a big deal about everything' when police arrived.

Hough said she had been 'really sorry' over everything that had transpired and hoped they could be friends again at some point.

She wrote of the incident, 'I think our feelings just got out of hand on that day. The more I think about it kenny may be guilty for [telling] me that I couldn't go home, until we have sex and make up, but he's not a rapist.'

Petty through his attorney said that 'inconsistencies' in the letter and accusations she made had 'fatally undercut her allegations of rape, sexual assault and infliction of emotional distress' in her lawsuit.

Hough had previously changed her account of the incident in which another person had been present, Petty's lawyer said in his submission to the court, also giving various accounts of whether Petty used 'a gun or knife' to coerce her into going to his house.

Petty's attorney said that Hough 'waited 27 years to commence litigation' against Petty after learning he had gotten 'romantically involved' with Minaj in an effort to 'extract money' from 'a celebrity with deep pockets.'

Lawyers for Petty - who wed Minaj in 2019 and welcomed a child with her the following year - asked for the case to be tossed from court based on the statements made in the latest submission.
