The arrival of 007 First Light has been a really great thing for the James Bond franchise as a whole, as it smashes back into the world of video games in a way that it hasn't done since the halcyon days of Goldeneye. The game has been praised in equal measure by critics and fans, and it really has shown the potential of the IP within the medium moving forward.

Amazon Games will seemingly be in charge of future titles, after the tech giant purchased the rights to the franchise after the deal with IO Interactive for First Light had already been done. With the likelihood of a trilogy now greater than ever, given the games commercial success and good reception, fans are united in the potential it has.

Over on Reddit, one user shared a post with the caption: "Assuming a trilogy is green-lit and based on this game. Do you think it has the potential to become one of the best action game series?" While that's obviously a very lofty goal, it sort of seems feasible after this first run out, and fans are very much in agreement with that premise.

"The World of Assassination series gives a good roadmap for the studio. They have a solid engine for the game they can iterate on. They just need a good story and build new levels and they can produce a game every 3 years. I wonder if they will continue the idea of backporting each game to the next version of the engine, a la Hitman," one comment read.

While another added, "Just finished the game a few mins ago and, yeah absolutely it has terrific potential to be a great game series. I hope IOI makes more games in the Bond series."

"I think it’d be pretty great — I’d love to see some new takes on some classic characters now that the core cast is complete, and I’d definitely like to see him age up a bit," a third said.

007 First Light Bawma

007 First Light certainly serves as a great foundation for any potential series of games that is going to come from it, really proving that the appetite is still there for original stories set within the universe of the legendary spy franchise. He's also got his whole life ahead of him, so that opens up the door for us to follow the secret agent as he works through what is currently his fledgling career.
