After getting lost in the jungles of Peru, Paddington is heading back to the big screen for another adventure.
Paddington Bear is a character created by British author Michael Bond. First debuting in 1958, Paddington has inspired numerous books and television, stage, and film adaptations. The current film franchise began in 2014 with Paddington voiced by actor Ben Whishaw. It has since spawned two more films, the most recent of which released in 2024 and saw the Peruvian bear return to his homeland to explore his origins.
Now, Studio Canal has revealed at CinemaCon that Paddington 4 is officially in development. Details are sparse on the upcoming film as of right now.

Paddington In Peru Finally Answered A Burning Question About The Bear
Paddington in Peru finally gives audiences more information about the beloved bear's past, and some of it is quite sad though the movie doesn't dwell.
With three films, the Paddington franchise has grossed over $700 million at the worldwide box office. It also has attracted top-tier stars. Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas, and Sally Hawkins have all starred in the franchise. In the first two films, Hawkins stars as Mary Brown, the wife of Henry Brown (Hugh Bonneville) and the matriarch of the family that takes in Paddington after he makes his way to the United Kingdom from Peru.
The Brown family home is where most of Paddington's misadventures begin, though the third film saw the marmalade-loving bear travel to his home country of Peru in his biggest adventure yet. Paddington in Peru also recast Hawkins, with Emily Mortimer stepping into the role of Mary Brown. That film went on to gross $211 million worldwide.
Paddington in Peru ended with the titular bear returning to London with the Browns alongside some bears from El Dorado, where he was born. Grant makes an appearance as Phoenix Buchanan, his character from the second film. It seems Paddington 4 will likely take place once again in London, though nothing is set in stone. It's unclear whether Grant would also appear as Buchanan.
Additional casting has yet to be confirmed, though it seems probable that Whishaw will return to voice Paddington, with his distinct characterization of the bear a key part of the role. The franchise is no stranger to recasting, but the Brown family also remains an integral part of Paddington's story and will also presumably take part in a fourth adventure.
