Perrie Edwards has reflected on her 'traumatic' experience with baby loss, breaking down in tears as she spoke about her two miscarriages in a new interview.

The Little Mix star, 32, gave birth to her son Axel, four, with footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2021, but shared last year that he was a 'rainbow baby' after she miscarried early into her first pregnancy.

Less than a year after welcoming Axel, Perrie and Alex discovered she was pregnant again, but they tragically lost their baby at 24 weeks. They had their daughter Alanis Valentine in January 2026.

Speaking on Jamie Laing's Great Company podcast, Perrie explained her emotional responses to her two losses differed.

After her early loss, and misunderstanding that she had experienced a miscarriage, Perrie admitted that she didn't feel 'fully attached in a way.'

'I know that sounds awful. Then it kind of freaked me out moving forward. My whole pregnancy with Axel I was scared to get attached.' Perrie went on to have a 'perfect' pregnancy with her son, explaining how after reaching her 12 week scan she 'just basked in it.'

'That got me feeling a bit more positive, I was like, "right, I can do this. I've birthed a human. I've done it once. I can do it again". And then we got pregnant again.'

Perrie fell pregnant again during Little Mix's final tour in 2022, and less than a year after Axel was born, but they lost their baby at 24 weeks.

'We'd named him. And again, I was attached. But because I just had Axel, I wasn't living in the headspace of, "oh, something could happen". I was just like, "I've just done this and I'm doing it again. And I love it."

'So I wasn't even thinking anything was going to go wrong until it went wrong. And that was traumatic.'

She explained that this loss felt different to her first, telling Jamie: 'I feel like when you're that far along and you have to have the procedure, it's just different. No way to have a miscarriage is easy. If it happens at the beginning, it's not easier than it happening further down the line.'

She broke down in tears, as she recalled 'having to give birth to a child that you can't take home.'

Perrie said that after her second loss 'it took me a while to want to go again. And I always knew I wanted more children... I wanted Axel to have siblings but I just didn't have it in me to get pregnant again.'

'I was just terrified, I thought it's probably best to just leave it so that's why there's such a big gap now between like Axel and Alanis.'

'It's not a huge gap but it's not the gap I wanted, it took me a lot to get over what happened to try again.'

She also teared up as she recalled how her losses meant she didn't enjoy her pregnancy with Alanis as much as she hoped.

'That upsets me because I love being pregnant. I love the feeling of it. I love carrying a baby. I feel powerful. I feel like untouchable. It's wild how you feel that I'm sad during the pregnancy, I didn't get to enjoy it fully until the very end really.'

Perrie and Alex announced the safe arrival of their daughter in January.
