This February celebrated the 10th anniversary of Stardew Valley, and it is hard to believe that we have had a decade of what many consider to be the greatest farming sim of all time. Developed by solo developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, the story follows a young farmer who inherits their grandfather's dilapidated farm following their death. Now with a farm to return to its former glory, players must mine, fish, build, breed, plant, sow, and even romance their way across an adorable pixel-art village.
Praised for its heaps of content, stunning artstyle, regular free updates, and gameplay, Stardew Valley is regarded as a modern-day classic, so it is perhaps no surprise that the modding community has found their home making new and unique content for the beloved farming sim.
One such example of this is the Path of Dew mod. Created by Kehaan, the free-to-download mod for Stardew Valley is an RPG-focused modpack complete with character builds, stat-driven systems, dangerous combat, and a massive open-world to explore. Put simply, if you want even more danger in your latest Stardew Valley save, Path of Dew is the way to add it, turning the relaxing farming sim into a stats-based RPG experience.
"Path Of Dew: RPG is a progression focused modpack by Kehaan, built on A World Of Dew and centered around character builds, stat based growth, and large-scale exploration," the mod description reads. "The pack uses Stardew RPG to transform Stardew Valley into a true RPG system, adding character stats, manual skill allocation, tool requirements, and build identity. Combined with a massive open world expansion, Path Of Dew shifts the focus from routine farming toward adventure, danger, and long-term progression."
As such, players can expect a full gameplay and character overhaul. No longer will you have to worry about your favorite animal and color, but now you will need to decide your levels of Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. As you level up, you will be able to put even more points into each of these categories. "Tools and weapons now require proper skill levels, and character growth is central to progression."
Not only that, but Path of Dew introduces stat-based scaling, ranged combat, and meaningful enemy encounters. Now, travelling across a large-scale open-world full of forests, lakes, ores, forage, treasure, and monsters, you will find various threats ranging in difficulty. However, the more difficult the enemy, the greater the loot may be.
Add some brand-new quests, restaurant gameplay, meteor defense events, and additional world encounters, and Stardew Valley now feels like an RPG more so than a cozy farming sim, and if this sounds like something you would enjoy, you can download the Path of Dew mod for free right now.
