That said, the MCU has had some more mixed results with its movie releases in the past few years, which made it all the more exciting to note that Brand New Day has become an immediate success critically and commercially thanks to its early reception - and the impressive box office total that has been tallied up in just the first days of its theatrical run.

While there's plenty of time left for Spider-Man: Brand New Day to rack up an even more impressive box office gross, these early results paint a clear picture for us in many regards, and especially when it comes to the MCU movie's chances of breaking one major milestone that the franchise has been unable to reach in the past year or so.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Is Effectively Destined To Be The MCU's Next $1B+ Hit Already

Over the course of the first few days that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been in theaters, the movie has made a staggering amount at the box office, with its $360 million domestic gross and $560-72 million worldwide gross coming together to an impressive total of around $932-41 million over the course of less than a week (as per The Numbers and Box Office Mojo).

Given the extremely short timespan the MCU movie has garnered this much money in, it's borderline guaranteed to break the $1 billion mark - and very soon at that, since this period is still within the early release stage for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and plenty of people are sure to have not had chance to see it quite yet.

While the speed at which Spider-Man: Brand New Day's box office has approached this milestone already suggests this was almost fated for the film - especially given Spider-Man: No Way Home's ending set it up to be the subject of fan fascination - the movie hitting the $1 billion mark would be a major matter for the MCU. This is not only because Brand New Day would be the 12th MCU movie to break $1 billion with its box office, but also because it would be the first MCU film since Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024 to do so.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Box Office Record Bodes Well For A Much Bigger Record Too

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day having gained very close to $1 billion in such a short span of time, it seems par for the course that the film stands at least a very good chance of making it to the $2 billion milestone too, since its early results are comparable with initial results of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, which are currently the only two MCU movies to have hit $2 billion.

Similarly, with Spider-Man: No Way Home having grossed $1.9 billion in its own run, it makes a lot of sense for the sequel to garner a similar if not slightly higher result.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's opening weekend being higher than No Way Home's (coming in at $360 million vs $260 million, as per The Numbers) does support the idea that a $2 billion total is set to be the case unless something unexpected happens in the next few weeks, which would be a major MCU feat, and potentially exactly what the franchise needs going into Avengers: Doomsday later this year.
