A-list pop star claims she's 'not making big bucks' touring the world as she reveals where the ticket money REALLY goes

An A-list pop star claimed that she is 'not making big bucks' amid her ongoing world tour and revealed where the revenue from tickets really goes.

Swedish singer Zara Larsson, who is currently embarking on her Midnight Sun Tour, got candid about the topic as she responded to a fan in the comments section of a TikTok clip she shared on Friday. 

In the reel, the 28-year-old music artist performed choreography in the hopes of eventually selling out her Bangkok concert stop later this year on November 1. 

However, some followers pointed out the high resale ticket prices while one wrote, 'I wish singers would advocate for cheaper ticket prices. the whole d**n world would go to yall shows but s*** is too expensive in this economy. 

'While you guys flourish in money, you get to happily leave after singing and dancing on a stage. us have 9-5's that barely pays enough.' 

In response, Larsson typed that she agreed with the fan and added, 'I don't want my tickets to be too pricy and I will definitely see what I can do about that!' 

The Lush Life hitmaker then claimed, 'But right now in my career I'm definitely not making big bucks on touring.'

She then claimed that most of the revenue from touring often goes to paying crew members, domestic and international travel as well as the production as a whole, which, for Larsson, includes flashy costumes, backup dancers and vibrant set pieces.

'It's basically a non profit at this point :p everything that I make goes to paying people, transportation, production etc.' 

Another TikTok user shared in the comment section, 'Ya see everyone is broke and barely making it by..if rich people could see that and lower the concert prices for people to still go while you still make your bag.

'But until they see that they will over price their tickets and continue to not have sold out shows.' 

Larsson also replied by claiming, 'I'm not making a bag on this tour truustt.

'And everything is sold out except for Thailand! Which will be sold out! I'm manifesting and posting.' 

The singer's Bangkok show is the final stop on her Midnight Sun Tour which kicked off last year in October. 

High ticket prices by resellers for the Bangkok concert can be found on websites such as Stubhub, with some priced at $340 USD as well as $419 USD. 

Over on Ticketmaster Thailand, ticket prices range from around $84 USD to $117 USD. 

The average gross monthly income in Thailand is estimated to be around ฿15,700 ($469.15 USD), per Wage.is. 

Tickets are at high resale prices for other concert dates such as Larsson's upcoming stop in Los Angeles in September. 

According to the AXS website, resale ticket prices range from $152 USD and jump up to $893 USD. 

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Larsson for comment, but has yet to hear back. 

Larsson has previously discussed the music industry, and recently labeled it as 'brutal' during an interview with Vogue Singapore. 

She first gained recognition in the 2010s and released hits such as Lush Life and Never Forget You in collaboration with MNEK in 2015. 

The following year, the songstress dropped more hits such as Ain't My Fault and I Would Like. In 2017, she was featured on Clean Bandit's track Symphony which also peaked on charts including in the U.K. 

Larsson released the song Ruin My Life in 2018 which was later included on her third studio album Poster Girl (2021). 

Her fourth studio album Venus dropped in 2024 and she also released her next album Midnight Sun in September 2025. 

The title track from her most recent LP garnered Larsson her first Grammy nomination as she received a nod for Best Dance Pop Recording. 

'Pop is brutal because everyone wants to declare something over so quickly. But careers are long if you keep showing up,' she told Vogue Singapore. 

'I had to learn that a quiet season doesn't mean failure. It can be a rebuilding season, a learning season, a becoming season.' 

However, the singer explained that she simply brushes aside her 'flop era' during the quiet period in her career. 

'I've already had success and then my flop era. And then it's like, "Okay, I flopped." So, it doesn't scare me anymore.' 

Larsson has previously been embroiled in feud rumors with fellow music artists Taylor Swift and Chris Brown. She also was at the forefront of controversy over an abortion 'joke' she made on TikTok. 

The star's next tour date will be on August 20 in Austria before another show in London on August 22. 

'It's really, really exciting because in a way, this is such a fun show that I get to do with the girls on stage, but it's also quite an intimate show,' Larsson told Elle in March.

'The show is basically just me. It's the band. It's the dancers. It's the outfits. It's the lights. It's very simple, is what it is.'

She added, 'But I think it's the last time, hopefully, with humbleness and love, that I will play in venues of this size. I'm really excited for that.'
