Charlotte Chilton shares a health update from her hospital bed as she admits she's 'been screaming in pain' after suffering agonising attack during 'complex' health battle
Charlotte Chilton has revealed she has been 'screaming and rocking in pain' as she remains in hospital after suffering an agonising attack six months after having life-saving brain surgery.
The Traitors star, 35, has been diagnosed with chronic pain disorder trigeminal neuralgia (TN), which causes severe episodes of shooting, electric shock-like pains in the face.
According to the NHS, the attacks 'typically last from a few seconds to two minutes and are commonly triggered by everyday activities like chewing, brushing teeth, talking, or a cool breeze on the face.'
Explaining that she wanted to raise awareness of the 'terrible condition', Charlotte told her Instagram followers that she suffers from 'a very complex and severe version.'
Charlotte, who is mum to daughter Penelope, two, shared a photo of herself in a hospital gown holding up a teddy bear as she wrote that she was feeling homesick after days in hospital.
'Meet Charlie, he is my bear for being homesick. My amazing BF got him for me and my mum arranged for a locket with my much missed late grandad,' she began her lengthy caption.

She added that her boyfriend has sprayed his aftershave on the bear 'for when I'm sad and he is not here. I will be honest the hospital have made exceptions for him to stay on the tough days.'
'To explain a little I am completely out of remission (and have been for some time) which means the agonising pains are back,' Charlotte continued.
'My case is severe and complex which requires me to have a lot of strong meds. After a very painful procedure this week I am know [sic] better despite its normal success rate, and now the big dogs are meeting to decide my fate.'
'It's been hard I haven't seen my girl much because this is a lot for her and causes her great distress being here.I am obviously missing sharing my bed with my love and being around my family.'
Going into more detail about her diagnosis, Charlotte said: 'As a lot know I have a terrible condition called trigeminal neuralgia and honestly it's very hard to treat for the more common cases.'
'I had to go and be different and have a very complex and severe version. I am working with my team here and several specialists across the country.'
'I think the hardest thing is the pain and never knowing when a bad episode will strike... I have been screaming and rocking in pain as well as not eating and barely drinking (due to the pain).'
She ended her caption by explaining how she wanted to raise awareness of the 'barely known' condition, adding that it is 'underfunded and a lot of medical staff have no idea how to treat or support a sufferer, due to it being a condition they rarely hear about in their training.'

'Yes it's a rare condition and I understand this, but it's simply not good enough.. I plan to change this... if you have an experience with any neuralgia.. please share this openly or privately, to help me make changes and help people in mental health crisis.'
'It's a disability that you cannot see but it doesn't mean you shouldn't be seen. I have been blessed with amazing staff on the neurology ward (they truly are the best). to all and my inbox is always open.'
Back in January, Charlotte suffered a terrifying seizure that left her unable to walk after her brain surgery.
She was left unable to use her limbs after collapsing at her home just days after she was initially discharged from hospital.
A source close to the star told The Sun: 'Charlotte suffered a seizure and collapsed while at home.
After returning from hospital, she was incredibly run down and had developed tonsillitis and a mouth full of ulcers.
Explaining that she wanted to raise awareness of the 'terrible condition', Charlotte told her Instagram followers that she suffers from 'a very complex and severe version' (pictured in 2024)
'She was on strong medication and it was a balancing act to find the right dose. Charlotte's doctors think her seizure was related to the new medicine she was put on. Her arms were limp and she couldn't walk. It was absolutely terrifying.'
The month before, Charlotte was rushed to A&E after suffering a 'terrible' trigeminal neuralgia attack, leaving her in agonising pain that she branded 'physical torture'.
As a result, she underwent neurosurgery to bring long term relief for the chronic condition - which is sometimes called 'the suicide disease' because of the impact the severe pain has on sufferers' mental health.
She was discharged after nearly three weeks.
