Fate of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Revealed After Season 5 Pause

Filming on season five of the series was previously put on hold in mid-March following the allegations of domestic violence against star Paul and her ex Dakota Mortensen. (Though the former couple’s custody battle for their toddler son continues, no charges were filed in the domestic violence case.)

As such, the upcoming seasons will certainly feel slightly “darker” with everything the cast members have been dealing with, including Draper’s contentious divorce from Jordan Ngatikaura.

“A lot of the girls are going through things and then it was kind of the start of the blowup,” the mom of two said. “So it definitely was a darker season, but I think a necessary one to understand where everyone's at.”

“At the end of the day we all started as good friends,” Taylor added, “and I would love— regardless of the drama—for it to just feel a little bit more joyful.”

E! News has reached out to Hulu for additional comment but has not heard back yet. 

Although when Mormon Wives returns, it’ll do so with some major changes—including Paul appearing in a more limited capacity following the ups and downs she’s faced over the last several months.

Meanwhile, season five also marks the last with OG Leavitt, who confirmed her departure after the forthcoming installment during a May performance of Chicago on Broadway.

"What is that?" she said, pointing to an open paper in footage obtained by TMZ. "'Whitney'...let me see. 'Whitney Leavitt Announces She's Leaving The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.'"

The 32-year-old had previously hinted that she was considering stepping away from the series, telling The Hollywood Reporter in March, "I’m figuring it out in real time. We’re figuring it out together, but it feels like that’s the trajectory of where it’s going.”

“I wouldn’t be where I am without it,” she added, “but it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways and fulfill these dreams and passions that I’ve been trying to get even before the show.”
