Fans of Netflix's Mindhunter and David Fincher's Gone Girl must tune in to Hulu's #1 new hit series – a near-perfect 98% RT psychological thriller. Featuring a stellar cast led by Emmy Rossum, Lola Petticrew, Quincy Tyler, Scott McNairy, and more, this well-crafted serial killer thriller is easily one of the best shows on any streaming platform right now, especially for fans of twisted crime thrillers and rage-fueled revenge stories. After premiering on July 27, it has remained the most-watched show worldwide on Hulu and Disney+.

Hulu's Furious combines Mindhunter's dark examination of serial killers with Gone Girl's unhinged, violent, female-driven revenge plot. As Hulu's #1 show worldwide with a fantastic 98% Rotten Tomatoes score, Furious is worth all the hype it has generated these last few weeks and is absolutely worth checking out this weekend. Now six episodes in, with episode 7 dropping on Monday ahead of its finale on August 31, there is truly no better time to dive into this elevated, gripping, and remarkable new crime thriller series than right now.

Mindhunter & Gone Girl Collide In Hulu's 8-Part Furious

Furious is an ideal choice for fans of dark psychological thrillers like Mindhunter and Gone Girl, fitting perfectly into the category of prestigious crime dramas centered on trauma, murder, and revenge. The series follows a workaholic FBI agent named Alice Black (Rossum), who is still relatively new to the bureau but is eager to get her hands on a big case. That opportunity arrives when the NYPD discovers a serial killer who murders three different men with a signature approach, which brings Alice and Detective Danny Kelly (McNairy) together to crack the case.

The killer, Catherine (Petticrew), is not a secret in Furious and serves more as a secondary protagonist to Alice, even though they exist on opposite sides of the law. The audience follows Catherine as she manipulates, disguises herself, and cons her way toward a handful of men who have greatly wronged her, or people she cares about, in the past. Similar to Dexter Morgan in Dexter, Catherine operates by her own code and justice system, exacting lethal punishment on predators who have gotten away with sexual crimes due to their wealth and status. This makes Catherine a villain worth rooting for, as the effects of her childhood trauma are also portrayed in great detail.

That said, Catherine is obviously wanted by the FBI and must be careful not to get caught. Her ultimate goal is to take down the white whale of her trauma, a powerful man with great influence who is protected by corrupt officials. Alice works endlessly to identify and track down Catherine throughout the first six episodes of Furious. However, as she learns more about her, she realizes that she may have more in common with the vengeful serial killer than she ever could have imagined. Because Furious dives into the distorted logic behind Catherine's reasons to kill, the show is right on par with Mindhunter, Gone Girl, and other investigative, educated crime thrillers.

Furious Deserves Its Near-Perfect RT Score & #1 Rank

Furious is simply one of the best shows on streaming right now, and its number 1 worldwide rank on Hulu and Disney+ demonstrates how many viewers feel the same way. Critics have already called it one of the greatest shows of 2026 based on 51 nearly unanimous reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Perhaps RogerEbert.com states it best in their 3.5/4-star review: "What this series has done is shift the genre from one that asks its audience to gawk at the violence enacted upon women and girls, and instead forces them to confront how these acts shape the people around us." In the same vein, NPR called Furious "a boldly original new TV thriller."

What truly sets Furious apart from other standard crime thrillers is the depth of its characters as they all pertain to an undeniably visceral theme, namely the silent rage that brews inside victims of severe abuse and trauma. The limits of society and legal systems don't allow any punishment outside of fines, imprisonment, and the like, which often fail to match the intensity of the violent act that so many people, especially women, have encountered, endured, and felt helpless in overcoming. Furious taps into the systemic corruption that rewards silence at the expense of countless victims, which only makes its outstanding story, characters, and overall message more of a triumph.
