The "Home Sweet Home" quest will have you trapped in a dream sequence in The Blood of Dawnwalker. You'll be transported back to Coen's family home in Laslea Glen, as if you had just started the game. As you're going through the dream, you'll realize that you're stuck, as you, once again, teleport back to your house. Luckily, you can break free of this nightmare, or even potentially finish the game.

Here's how to complete the "Home Sweet Home" quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker.

To start the "Home Sweet Home" quest, you need to head to the top of Aurelia's Tower, which can be found in the southwest corner of The Silts. On the way to the top, you'll need to beat a few enemies and Svetlana, the Dark Prodigy, who is a witch boss who will occasionally use witchcraft spells.

Once you finally finish climbing the tower, you can peek through the door to see someone performing a mysterious ritual. Then, you can open the door to initiate the quest, but it'll take up four time segments.

However, when you open the door, you wake up at the beginning of the game where your father tells you to chop some wood.

There are five steps to this quest:

  1. Talk to your family
  2. Rescue your family
  3. Escape the loop (or get trapped in the dream)
  4. Help the priest with the sermon
  5. Investigate the meadow

Talk to your family in 'Home Sweet Home'

After you're taken back to the beginning of the game, you need to talk to your family, and you have the choice to chop firewood again. However, chopping firewood and your next dialogue choice will not have any effect, as no matter what you do, you will receive the same result: a large winged creature will burst through the roof and abduct your family.

Rescue your family in 'Home Sweet Home'

Follow the path ahead to where you'll find Esme, or at least a fake copy of your mother. Defeat the enemies surrounding her, and choose any option you'd like. Every choice will eventually send her to the church.

Continue on, beat the enemies near your siblings, and send them off to the church as well. Then, head off to your father, where the huge winged creature, officially called Keeper of Nightmares, will crash onto the ground. Fight them as you normally would, but make sure to parry them while they're in the air to force them back to the ground. After you defeat them, tell Pieter, "There's no time for this," and head to the church to find your family. Your family will ask why he's not with you, but at this point you have no idea what they're talking about. Tell your family to get their act together, which will lead to a cutscene featuring the gargolye monsters, but once it's over, you're transported back to your family's home in Laslea Glen again.

Talk to Esme, which will lead to the same cutscene that you saw at the start of the quest, with your family being abducted.

How to escape the loop in 'Home Sweet Home'

From here on, you can either repeat the whole dream sequence again or escape the loop. If you repeat the sequence three more times, you'll reach a secret ending where you stay with your "family" ... forever. You'll also unlock the "Together Forever" achievement in the process, and reach the credits.

To escape the nightmare, you need to inspect the well in the area with Coen's siblings. Proceed through the dialogue options and choose "Alin" to get out of the loop and progress in the quest.

Once you're done speaking with the monster in the well, shadowstep to the top of the wall and go inside the cave. Continue shadowstepping to each platform and head through the portal at the end of the path.

In this area, you'll find ruins that resemble the church from the prologue. The priest will start his sermon, but they'll stumble on their words and pause at certain points. Whenever they stop, interact with the following people in this order:

  2. Esme (beside the coffin)
  3. Coen (on the southern pew)

Investigate the meadow in 'Home Sweet Home'

After the priest is done with the sermon, run after the boy through the door into the portal. Follow the path lit by torches and investigate the toy, the swing, and the log using focus mode. Then, continue further into the memory by following the torches. Claw ride down the cliff and continue ahead until you reach a cutscene.

You'll encounter Alin, Coen's brother, and learn how they passed away. As you interact with them, you're free to choose any dialogue option, as they'll all lead to the same outcome. Alin will tell you to forgive yourself and let it go, because you're running out of time.

Afterward, you'll wake up on a table, and an astrologer attempts to hit you with a hammer. However, you quickly counter with your own hammer and take them out. The quest will end here, but don't forget to loot the astrologer's body to get the Astrologer's Ring, a legendary ring that provides the following effects:

  • +11.2% witchcraft ability damage
  • +11.2% activation charge restoration from actions
  • -7% witchcraft ability cooldown
  • +21% passive activation charge restoration

Lastly, you'll find out that this quest also completes the "Gargolye Manufacture" activity for Xanthe, and it'll increase your infamy.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a time-sensitive, narrative RPG where your actions and decisions matter. If you're just starting out, check out our beginner's guide and our recommended quests to do before mass. After the prologue, you're free to explore Vale Sangora and take on Brencis' boyars however you please, but the freedom can be a bit overwhelming. To help, here's what we recommend doing after the prologue.
