When Invincible first debuted on Prime Video, nobody was expecting it to become one of the platform's defining animated series. However, over four seasons, Robert Kirkman's adaptation has become renowned for delivering shocking twists and surprisingly emotional moments between incredible characters that have resonated with longtime comic readers and newcomers alike.
Each season of Invincible has expanded the scope of Mark Grayson's story while introducing increasingly dangerous threats and upping the ante, a huge reason why viewers keep coming back for more. As such, fans are eagerly looking ahead to Season 5, which is already in production and expected to tackle some of the most anticipated storylines from the comics.
And while viewers still have a bit of a wait before new Prime Video episodes arrive, Invincible is officially getting an incredible new release this August with several new episodes that will be introducing new heroes, powers, and abilities that are sure to blow fans away (via Dire Wolf Digital).
In a recent announcement from Dire Wolf, a brand-new season for the critically acclaimed Invincible: The Hero-Building Game is officially set to release in August. According to the update, Invincible: The Hero-Building Game, Season 2 "expands upon the original game by adding new heroes, episodes, abilities, and powers — plus villains to use them against!" The new season will reportedly release during this year's Gen Con event, which takes place from July 30–August 2, available in retail shortly thereafter.
For the uninitiated, Invincible: The Hero-Building Game is a cooperative strategy board game for 1–4 players that lets fans step into the roles of heroes like Invincible, Atom Eve, Rex Splode, and Robot as they battle iconic villains and protect civilians through a series of comic-inspired scenarios. Using a mix of "bag-building" and "tableau-building" mechanics, players strengthen their characters over the course of each game, encouraging teamwork and strategic planning to overcome increasingly difficult threats.
The game first released back in the summer of 2024, but the newest season coming out this August promises a ton of new content to give players a fresh new experience. Here's everything that's included in Season 2:
- Four new heroes, including Dupli-Kate, Shrinking Rae, Monster Girl, and Black Samson
- Several new villains
- Six new episodes, playable as a continuous campaign or to mix freely with episodes from the base game
- A stacked deck of new Super Powers and Ultimate Powers
- New tricks, including Weaken tokens and Falter Cubes, upgrades that serve as permanent additions to your bag
While no details regarding price or specific retail release information are available just yet, Dire Wolf plans to release the newest season during this year's Gen Con conference in Indianapolis, Indiana at the end of the month, "with retail availability to follow soon after."
