Arc System Works and Sony Interactive Entertainment have unveiled the rest of the Year 1 DLC characters for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls at EVO France. The first one to arrive after Phoenix Cyclops is a surprising pick. Instead of adding Thor Odinson to the tag fighter's roster, the developers chose Jane Foster's Thor.

Who are the Year 1 DLC characters for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls?

The trailer that debuted Jane Foster's Thor as a fighter also revealed the full Year 1 DLC lineup. Phoenix Cyclops kicks things off on Nov. 2. Then, in 2027, we can expect Thor (Jane Foster) to launch in the Winter, Venom in the Spring, and X-Men character Jubilee in the Summer. It's a strong group of DLC characters that come from different corners of the Marvel universe.

While we didn't see any gameplay featuring Jane Foster's Thor, the trailer does show her confronting Loki in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls' Asgard stage. This won't be the first time Jane Foster's Thor has been playable in a video game, as she was one of Marvel's Avengers' last post-launch characters in 2022.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has shown a willingness to subvert expectations with its roster picks, featuring Shuri's Black Panther rather than T'Challa's and the Phoenix Force-infused Cyclops rather than the regular version. Venom is a fairly mainstream pull, though, and he'll join the game alongside a new Klyntar stage.

As a fan of X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men '97, I'm most hyped for Jubilee's addition. She's already a lot of fun in Marvel Rivals, and I can't wait to see how Arc System Works adapts her flashy powers for its gorgeous fighting game.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is available on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. To access these DLC characters, you'll need to buy the $84.99 Digital Deluxe Edition or the base game plus the $34.99 Year 1 Character and Stage Pass.
