MCU boss Kevin Feige says Adam Driver has turned down multiple projects

The name on every movie insider's lips right now is Adam Driver (Star Wars, Girls). Leaks have attached the actor to not one, not two, but three different villain roles in the MCU's X-Men reboot. Fans debate which role he'd fit best, but they all seem to agree that Driver would be a fantastic get. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige agrees but reveals that he's never been able to make it happen, not for a lack of trying.

Talking to Happy Sad Confused host Joshua Horowitz, Feige said that it is "no secret" he'd like to work with Driver in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He went on to say that Driver has been in talks for a number of MCU projects in the past. Ultimately, Driver has turned down every offer Feige has brought to the actor. "It's a tradition to Zoom with him, and then he passes," the Marvel boss joked.

While it has never been officially confirmed by either party, Driver was reportedly Marvel's first pick to play Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Insider accounts differ on whether Driver declined early on in the project or if he was in final talks for the part. The role would eventually go to Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, The Mandalorian).

Currently, Driver is the subject of numerous rumors surrounding the MCU's long-awaited X-Men. This began with one leaker reporting that the actor had been cast as the film's villain, with another then stating he would take on the iconic role of Magneto (previously portrayed by Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender). That was walked back by the original source, who later said Driver would actually be taking on the role of Mister Sinister. Another insider floated that Driver was instead playing William Stryker, the antagonist in the seminal X-Men story "God Loves, Man Kills." A version of Stryker appeared in several of the Fox X-Men films.

Marvel Studios will have its official San Diego Comic-Con presentation in Hall H on Saturday, July 25 at 5:30 p.m. PDT. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will be joined by unannounced special guests "from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a look at what's next from Marvel Studios."
