Sarah J. Maas Reveals 2 New ACOTAR Titles in Double Announcement
Why Sarah J. Maas Is Releasing ACOTAR 6 and 7 Back-to-Back
Sarah J. Maas is holding court on the ACOTAR universe.
Indeed, the bestselling author of the A Court of Thorns and Roses novels revealed the sixth and seventh book titles in the fantasy romance series are A Court of Splintered Harmony and A Court of Forgotten Melody, respectively.
"What was broken will be remade,” she wrote alongside the cover reveal of ACOTAR 6 in an Aug. 17 Instagram post, while she captioned the reveal of ACOTAR 7, "What was lost will be reclaimed."
A Court of Splintered Harmony—which hits bookstores Oct. 27—will focus on the dangerous return of Koschei the Deathless to the Fae territories.
“The Night Court will not stand idly by while innocents are attacked,” a description of the novel reads. “But with Prythian still piecing itself together in the wake of the devastating Hybern War, the task of uniting is proving more difficult by the day.”
The description added. “To survive, they must find a way to repair the splintered harmony all around them.”
Meanwhile, a description for A Court of Forgotten Melody—out Jan. 12—read that “Prythian might never be the same again. Traditional alliances are crumbling, and no amount of diplomacy seems sufficient to repair them.”
And it seems the threat of Koschei the Deathless will remain.
“Bonds will be tested,” the description added. “Power will shift. And old enemies will emerge from nightmares of the past.”

Recently, Maas detailed just how interconnected the two books—which she shared on Instagram make up “The Valkyrie Cycle: Movement I” and “The Valkyrie Cycle: Movements II and III” —really are.
"It's just the story that was finally ready to come out of me was big—really, really, really big," she said during her March 4 appearance on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast. "And as I started writing this in, like, Montana, like energy vortex, it came out of me in a way that surprised me. I like to do parts—like, part one, part two, part three—by the time I got to the end of part one, it was like 400 pages long."
And as you can imagine, writing parts one through three was a massive undertaking for the 40-year-old, which is why part four will be coming much later.

"Those were really f--king long," she noted, "then part four has yet to be written because right now I'm trying to just get part one [out]."
While fans hold their breath for the upcoming novels in the ACOTAR series—which also includes A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight and A Court of Silver Flames—they’ll also be awaiting more information on the fourth book in her Crescent City series, which she revealed will be a crossover that takes place in the ACOTAR universe.
“I’m very, very excited about that one,” Maas teased during a 2024 appearance on Today. “I know much more about what’s happening in this one. And then the next book in that series, I have the ideas and general, vague thoughts.”
She continued, “But the nitty gritty of writing and the emotional journeys with the characters—I usually love to go on those journeys with them.”
