A new Silent Hill: Townfall gameplay trailer has offered up over 18 minutes of first-look footage while also quietly confirming exactly how long the game's PlayStation 5 exclusivity will last.

The extended trailer follows protagonist Simon Ordell as he explores the fog-shrouded Shorefront region of the fictional Scottish island of St. Amelia, picking through houses and apartments, gathering items, and eventually running into some of the horrors lurking in the mist.

No major plot beats are spoiled, though anyone wanting to go in completely blind may still want to give it a miss. For everyone else, you can check it out below:

The trailer's closing fine print held the more notable reveal, though. Alongside reiterating that Townfall is a PS5 console exclusive, a caption confirmed: "Also available on PC. Not available on other consoles until at least 6 months after release date".

That's not a confirmed Xbox Series X/S or Nintendo Switch 2 release, of course, but it does give a rough window for when one could happen: from around March 2027 onward.

Developed by Screen Burn Interactive (the studio FKA No Code) and published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive, Townfall is also notable as the first mainline Silent Hill game to be played entirely in first-person. It's set to release on 24th September on PC and PS5.

I recently played the opening five hours and really enjoyed what I saw, but felt – strongly – that there's a lot more to Townfall than meets the eye.

As for what's next for the series? Silent Hill was resuscitated with a bang in 2022 when Konami announced Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall, Silent Hill Ascension, and movie Return to Silent Hill all at once, with Silent Hill Short Message shadowdropped thereafter, too. Series producer Motoi Okamoto said that the key to the franchise's revival was to "cherish" a "strong psychological horror narrative".

"As long as that remains intact, we feel that we can be more liberal and experimental with what kind of gameplay we take," Okamoto said at the time. "So I think that's very evident in how Silent Hill 2, last year's Silent Hill F and, of course, Silent Hill: Townfall, are all very different gameplay experiences. We feel that as long as we keep the narrative core intact, there's very much room to keep the gameplay style changing."
