Trafalgar Releasing Launches Korean Entity, Names Hybe Veteran as Asia Acquisitions Head (EXCLUSIVE)

Trafalgar Releasing, the U.K.-based event cinema distributor, has established a dedicated Korean subsidiary, Trafalgar Korea, and appointed Sokyung Jung as head of acquisitions, Asia – its first hire for the new Seoul-based entity.

Jung joins from Hybe Co., Ltd., where she worked on the commercialization of content from the label’s artist roster, including BTS, Seventeen and Enhypen, collaborating directly with the Trafalgar Releasing team on the company’s global event cinema releases.

Trafalgar Releasing has operated in the K-pop space since 2018, when it released “BTS: Burn The Stage The Movie.” Subsequent titles include “BTS: Yet To Come in Cinemas” – which at release stood as the all-time top-grossing event cinema title – as well as “Blackpink World Tour [Born Pink] in Cinemas,” “Seventeen Tour ‘Follow’ Again to Cinemas,” “Ateez World Tour [Towards the Light: Will to Power] in Cinemas” and “IU Concert: The Winning.”

Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing and a director of Trafalgar Korea, said: “We’re proud to launch Trafalgar Korea and pleased to welcome Sokyung to the team. Korea has been a key market for Trafalgar Releasing over the past decade, and an important next step for us was to establish on-the-ground representation. Sokyung’s expertise positions us perfectly for future growth, and we look forward to deepening relationships and expanding opportunities throughout Asia.”

Jung said: “I am excited to join Trafalgar Korea during this incredible surge in global interest for K-content. There is a natural and powerful synergy between the passionate K-pop fandom and Trafalgar’s event cinema model, which turns screenings into meaningful, shared fan experiences that go far beyond a simple film release. As we establish our roots here, I look forward to leveraging our new Korean presence to cultivate more active local partnerships, ensuring that we establish ourselves as the definitive gateway for K-content to reach global audiences.”

Trafalgar Releasing operates across more than 15,000 theaters in 132 countries and is a subsidiary of Trafalgar Entertainment. Its slate spans concert films, live broadcasts, theatre, opera, dance and music documentaries.
