If you're even remotely familiar with the iconic spy franchise, you'll immediately notice that 007 First Light has countless Easter eggs and references to the series's greater history as a whole. While there are plenty of more obvious discoveries or referential legacy collectibles that offer cheeky nods to Bond's history, there are still more than a few references that are either hidden out of sight or can be easily overlooked while playing.

From subtle lines of dialogue, familiar environmental details, or even shared story events and foreshadowing borrowed from the film franchise, First Light has plenty to offer long-time fans of the 007 series on top of its already excellent gameplay experience.

10 First Light Has Several Celebrity Cameos

While these referential NPCs will be instantly recognizable to anyone who is a fan of their work, it can be incredibly easy to overlook some of First Light's celebrity cameos if you're not paying too much attention. Having already revealed the TikTok star Khaby Lame, who can be found waiting for Bond next to a sign for the Tranquility Cave in Vietnam, there are three other instances where you'll encounter some familiar faces.

To start, during the Nightclub mission of the tutorial, the two DJs on stage aren't random NPCs, but actually the music duo behind the English band Chase & Status, who share employment with none other than YouTuber and Bloodborne movie director Jacksepticeye at the coat check. Going several missions further into the game, you can also find the streamer Shroud congratulating you after participating in an arena fight in The Past Never Dies.

9 Q's Lab Is Filled With Some Iconic Gadgets & Callbacks

Even though the Qlab seems like an obvious place to find references from the rest of the series, there are far more Easter eggs than just the few interactive objects on display that you'll have to listen in for and look around to discover, whether in between missions or on your way to try out new outfits in the Tacsim mode.

On top of the trap telephone box referencing Goldeneye, you can find a plethora of details like the Inflatable Ski Suit from The World Is Not Enough, the dagger shoes in From Russia With Love, and more. On top of these objects, a pair of scientists at the back of the facility also discuss more than a few of Bond's most iconic gadgets from the films, ranging from inflatable crocodile costumes to "deathtrap" Jetpacks.

8 Better Call Saul Makes A Surprise Cameo In First Light

While this one can be pretty easy to miss if you're following the mission objectives, you'll be able to find a reference from Breaking Bad's ever iconic spinoff, Better Call Saul, right at the start of The Past Never Dies.

Hiding in plain sight, right to the left of where you start the mission, Jimmy McGill’s oddly painted 1998 Suzuki Esteem is unmistakably a reference to Better Call Saul, with the only question remaining being what kind of shady deal was made that had the vehicle land its way into the hands of the pirate haven of Aleph.

7 007 References Several Real World Spy Gadgets

It wouldn't be a James Bond outing if First Light didn't contain an assortment of gadgets for you to use in life-threatening scenarios, but it isn't just fictional ones that get their fair share of mention throughout the story.

Bond's apartment is filled with other references from the 007 films as well, such as the Ornithology book from Die Another Day

After the mission All the Time in the World, you can find an unfinished game of Hangman that Bond quickly finishes for spelling out 'Poisoned Tipped Umbrella', which references the real-world assassination of George Markov in 1978. On top of these real-world gadgets, a few scientists in Q lab can also be found discussing a few gadgets the CIA used in attempts to assassinate Fidel Castro, which include the rumored exploding cigar and conch shell.

6 Bond's Nicknames Are More Than Just Throwaway Lines

It may seem like Bond and his companions come up with a new random alias every time he gets introduced to someone while undercover, but more often than not, the titles are none other than those the iconic spy has used in previous films. About halfway through the story, for example, Isola will introduce Bond under his false name, Mr. Beech from Casino Royale, before he blows off the cover himself.

After progressing through First Light's story and making his way to Vietnam, Bond will also introduce himself as "St. John Smythe", which is the same alias Roger Moore's Bond used in A View to Kill. Even other spy movies aren't safe either, as one of Bond's bluffing dialogues will bring up the name Kittridge from the Mission Impossible series.

5 EVery Aston Martin Is A Reference To 007's Previous Films

First Light Malta DBS

Although you'd be forgiven for not catching the scuffed-up DBS that Bond drives in the Malta tutorial segments, the used vehicle is none other than the same Aston Martin that Bond uses in Casino Royale.

After the tutorial mission, you'll get to drive yet another Aston Martin in the form of the yellow car Bond hot-wires during All The Time In The World, which is a reference to the darker variant used by Lazenby’s Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Finally, the suped-up Aston Martin Bond drives in First Light's Vallhalla mission is none other than Craig's final film, No Time To Die.

4 Agent 47 Gets Several Nods To His Iconic Legacy

Rubber Duck in 007 First Light

Despite countless nods to the 007 series and spy media at large, IO Interactive put more than a fair share of references for their own properties as well, with the most notable being the plethora of callbacks to their HITMAN trilogy. The most notable of these references is easily the Rubber Duck you can find lying on a coffee table after returning from Webb Tower, but there are countless more that even eagle-eyed fans might miss.

When testing the Missile Pen in QLab, one of the NPCs voiced by Diana from Hitman will say "Target Eliminated."

From magazines featuring Hitman targets, brands from the trilogy, alongside 47 codes for hotel rooms, wine bottles, protein powder and even dart board scores, First Light isn't afraid to show its developer's origins in spades. To top things off, IO Interactive even included the over a decade-long running gag of the developer Alan still needing to add details to a post-it note, which has appeared in every entry since Hitman: Blood Money.

3 First Light's Achievements Will Be Familiar To Long-Time Fans

Steam Achievements in 007 FirsT light

While First Light's achievements offer some of the more obvious references for anyone who bothers checking their names, it's easy to miss the notification whenever one pops up during combat.

If you do go out of your way to check, you'll find that almost every single one of First Light's achievements is a reference to the names, iconic scenes, or lines from the movies. While there are several easily spotted ones like Casino Royale, Shaken not Stirred, or Skyfall, there are plenty of others that any Bond aficionado will instantly recognize at a glance.

2 009's Hideout Names Are Far From A Coincidence

During First Light's fourth mission, The Past Never Dies, you'll find two company logos that are used as hints towards 009's private hideout, and while the names seem completely random at first, they actually reference some of the earliest entries in the books.

The Universal Exports, for one, was a business that MI6 used for years before Blofeld found out about it, and was used several times in the rest of the film franchise. The second name, Transworld Consortium, is also another cover for MI6 that was notably used in The Man With The Golden Gun, which 009 had held onto for all these years as a hint for any agents on his trail.

1 007 Doesn't Waste Time With Its Early Foreshadowing

All the time in the world 007 First light-1

Given the abundance of references and callbacks that 007 First Light throws at you right from the start of the game, it can be easy to overlook some of the more obvious hints at it's major plot points, with the mission title and phrase "All The In The World" being one of the biggest giveaways yet.

Warning: This section contains spoilers for 007 First Lights' fourth mission, All The Time In The World.Used in both the heartbreaking ending in On Her Majesty's Secret Service and brought back for Craig's in No Time To Die, the third chapter name is a clear nod to the tragic events of the mission. As if it wasn't bittersweet enough on its own, the fact agent Monroe is the one that says the line makes his eventual fate in 007 First Light even more tragic, and impossible to ignore on a subsequent playthrough.
