Criterion to Release Stanley Kubrick Box Set with All 13 of His Films, Including ‘The Shining’ International Cut

The Criterion Collection is about to give Stanley Kubrick fans everything they’ve asked for: All 13 of the director’s features in one box set.

As the company has done with the likes of Wes Anderson and Ingmar Bergman, Criterion’s “The Complete Kubrick” brings together all the director’s movies in 4K, with the set hitting shelves on October 20, 2026. Watch a teaser for the box set below.

The films are “Day of the Fight” (1951, in both original and RKO versions); “Flying Padre” (1952); “Fear and Desire” (1952); “The Seafarers” (1953); “Killer’s Kiss” (1955); “The Killing” (1956); “Paths of Glory” (1957); “Spartacus” (1960); “Lolita” (1962); “Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb” (1962); “2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968); “A Clockwork Orange” (1971); “Barry Lyndon” (1975); “The Shining” (1980, in both theatrical and international versions); “Full Metal Jacket” (1987); and “Eyes Wide Shut” (1999).

Notably, the international cut of “The Shining” is rarely available on home video or widely seen in North America; it’s shorter than the theatrical version by about 20 minutes, removing several pieces of exposition to create an even more ambiguous (as if!) suffocating atmosphere of dread.

“’The Complete Kubrick’ took two years to achieve, but as Kubrick fans know, one’s relationship with his films never truly ends,” said Michael Chaiken, Criterion producer, in a press statement. “It was an honor to be asked to produce this set and an enormous responsibility: to the fans, to the Kubrick estate, and ultimately to Kubrick himself, whose commitment to the presentation of his work remained constant throughout his life. To that end, Criterion consulted Kubrick’s closest collaborators, archival experts, and the studios that have stewarded his films across generations, ensuring that these works look and sound better than they ever have on home video. As the set’s many interviews and documentaries reveal, behind Kubrick’s darkly comic vision is a world of family, friends, and enduring creative relationships that speak to the humanist center of this singular body of work.”

All 13 films and three shorts are restored in 4K, with Kubrick’s original soundtracks alongside the 5.1 mixes, restored and remastered. The set includes 25 hours of interviews, documentaries, and behind-the-scenes materials; deluxe packaging with rare photographs and new illustrations, plus artwork and documents annotated by Kubrick himself. The set totals 30 discs on 4K UHD and Blu-ray. The box design itself also draws inspiration from Kubrick’s own meticulous physical archives.

Other highlights include a 4K restoration of Vivan Kubrick’s classic behind-the-scenes documentary “Making ‘The Shining,'” new recorded commentary tracks with Kubrick historians Lee Unkrich and Michael Benson, unseen “Lolita” screen tests, and much more.
