Capcom is discontinuing the deluxe edition of Dragon's Dogma 2 on 24th June, as well as pulling many of its more controversial time-saving microtransactions.

In a statement posted to the game's social media channels, the developer thanked players for their support over the years, adding that "due to the development of additional content and various adjustments for the upcoming title update", several in-game items – many of which let you fast-track the game's progression systems – will be retired.

Dragon's Dogma 2, Explorer's Camping Kit, and Dragon's Dogma Music and Sound Collection will remain on sale.

"Thank you for your support!" the team concluded. "We hope you bring the same passion and love to Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, as you did to Dragon's Dogma 2."

The reveal of a Dragon's Dogma 2 port for Nintendo Switch 2 was one of the biggest surprises in last week's Nintendo Direct. Moreover, it's the Dark Arisen version that includes the new expansion that's also coming to other versions of the game. And Capcom is taking the opportunity to do some major work on fantasy role-playing game.

After more than a year without any updates to fix the game's various performance issues, or to improve other areas such as a lack of enemy scaling in New Game Plus, Capcom presented a two-part roadmap to get the game in better shape ahead of Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen's 9th October launch.
