Sarah Harris once tried to make a royal connection - and failed dismally.
The former Project star told Nova 96.9's Ricki-Lee & Tim radio show on Thursday that she was rejected by Prince William during his tour of Australia in 2010.
Harris, 44, hoped to get a scoop and offered William, 43, her phone number, but he declined to take it.
'Well he wasn't actually engaged to Kate (Middleton) yet, and I was following him around... for work! He was over doing a tour of Australia and New Zealand,' Sarah told the show's hosts.
'It was really clever what he did at the very start of the tour, he got all the press together and took us all out for a beer, just to kind of get to know us,' she continued.
'I was working for the Today show at the time, and I said to him, "Look I just need some little fun titbits that I can throw out when I do my crosses to the Today show. Like something on your iPod playlist." That's how long ago it was.

'And he goes "Nothing's really coming up right now".
'So I said, "Well how about I give you my phone number, and if anything comes to mind..." and he goes "You Aussies are crazy!"'
Sarah never got the number, and took the rejection in her stride.
The television host went on have a successful career despite the slight, eventually taking a role as a panellist on The Project.
She joined the controversial current affairs show in 2023.
However, days after The Project was cancelled by Network 10 in 2025, Sarah admitted she was looking for work.
As she was introduced on Nova FM's The Real Story podcast, she immediately directed listeners to her LinkedIn and said she would take 'any employment'.
'Hello, I'm Sarah Harris and I'm open to any sort of employment. You can check me out on LinkedIn,' she joked as she opened the interview.

Sarah also spoke about the 'reckoning' the TV industry is currently suffering through as it competes for audience retention.
'Social media killed the TV star,' she said.
Harris hasn't stayed out of the spotlight for long, and has gone on to find employment in radio.
She is currently the breakfast radio newsreader on Sydney's Nova 96.9 FM for the Ricki-Lee & Tim show.
Prince William married Catherine Middleton in 2011, and Sarah wed her husband Tom Ward in 2014, though they split in 2021.
