Steam Drops New 10/10 Free Game You'll Struggle To Put Down

Among all the greatest short free Steam games that have been recommended recently sat Glisynth, a hugely time-consuming rhythm game with a novel gimmick that helps it stand out. Released on June 26, 2026, Glisynth is a completely free title on Steam that sees players attempt to get perfect scores across several pieces of original music that are surprisingly incredibly catchy. It isn't attempting to do anything fans of the genre haven't seen before. Instead, it merely offers a fun twist and a handful of great tracks to keep even the most hardened of players busy for a little while.

Glisynth's central mechanic is that there are only two types of notes: Q notes and A notes. The Q notes, which are symbolized by white stars, can be played by pressing any key in the Q row on a keyboard (so Q to P.) Similarly, the A notes, which are symbolized by yellow stars, require players to press any key in the A row (so A to L.) It takes away the restrictions of other rhythm games by granting players a wider pool of potential buttons, while also forcing players to utilize every finger to keep their combo up high.

Glisynth is a tough yet accessible rhythm game. There's a Story Mode to keep those who require a narrative hooked, as well as the Free Mode, which allows fans to pick from any of the available songs and attempt to best their high score. Each song, while certainly a little tricky, can still be enjoyed by those entirely new to the genre. The only barrier to enjoying Glisynth is the ability to hit download on Steam. If one wants to see if Glisynth will become one of the best rhythm games, then they need only give it a whirl.

Glisynth is currently in Early Access on Steam, and will be for approximately a year. More songs and additional story content are planned for the game, all of which will be added for free. The game's developer, Team Charlotte, have described Glisynth as a non-for-profit game, and has no intention of making players pay for it at any point during its development, both during and after the Early Access period ends. So, for those who want dozens of hours of free content on Steam, perhaps it is worth giving Glisynth a shot.
