We’re Getting Another In-Depth Look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Later This Month

Final Fantasy fans will want to tune into Gamescom Opening Night Live

We'll get another look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation before the month is over. It'll slightly beat GTA 6's new trailer to the punch, as the next Final Fantasy title will be featured during Gamescom Opening Night Live on Aug. 25.

Each year, the same team that produces Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards holds a live event right before Gamescom, the massive European video game industry expo. Like host Geoff Keighley's other showcases, it features a mix of new reveals and updates on games we already know about. Whereas Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight took center stage at last year's show, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be one of the highlights of 2026's Gamescom Opening Night Live.

In an X post, Square Enix confirmed that game director Naoki Hamaguchi will appear in person there to show off Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. We don't know exactly what will be revealed, but there's still plenty for the developers to share following the game's announcement at Summer Game Fest in June. Hopefully, we'll get our first look at Cloud and friends' grand return to Midgar or a release date.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation isn't the only title confirmed for Gamescom Opening Night Live at this point. The Songs of the Past expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Metro 2039, Silent Hill: Townfall, Aion 2, Cinder City, and Project Bonfire will all appear there too. It's already looking like a packed show, and we still have a few more weeks of teases to go.

Gamescom Opening Night Live will begin at 2 p.m. ET on Aug. 25. We still don't know when exactly the game will appear during that live showcase.
