XRP (XRP) Price: Whale Holdings Reach 8.13 Billion After Weekly Buying
TLDR
- XRP whale accumulation rose by 380 million tokens in one week, pushing large-holder totals to 8.13 billion XRP.
- XRP faces resistance at $1.06, with a breakout potentially opening targets at $1.35 and $1.64.
- Analyst Ali Martinez flagged a TD Sequential buy signal on XRP’s monthly chart, a setup tied to past rallies.
- Ripple released 1 billion XRP from escrow on August 1 but returned 700 million XRP, cutting new supply.
- The $1 level is acting as short-term support while whales continue buying below resistance.
XRP whale holdings grew by 380 million tokens over the past week. That brings total large-holder holdings to roughly 8.13 billion XRP.
The price of XRP has stayed close to $1 during this stretch. Data from Santiment shows large holders buying even as the price stayed flat.
This pattern suggests some big holders expect a move higher. They appear to be building positions ahead of any price shift.
XRP Price on CoinGeckoChart Signal Draws Attention From Analysts
Analyst Ali Martinez shared a chart on X pointing to a new buy setup on the Tom DeMark Sequential indicator. He noted this signal has appeared before some of XRP’s largest price moves over the last six years.
In April 2020, a buy signal came before XRP rallied 1,074%. In August 2022, a similar signal preceded a 973% increase.
A sell signal in April 2025 came before a 57% drop in price. Martinez’s post highlighted this track record as a reason traders are watching the current setup closely.
XRP still has not broken through resistance at $1.06. Blockchain data shows about 3 billion XRP has traded hands at that price level in the past.
A move above $1.06 could open the door to $1.35 as the next target. Beyond that, $1.64 is seen as a further target if buying continues.
Right now, $1 is acting as a support level for XRP. Continued whale buying below $1.06 could help hold that support in place.
Ripple’s Escrow Return Cuts New Supply
On August 1, Ripple released 1 billion XRP from escrow as scheduled. Of that amount, 700 million XRP was sent back into escrow.
This lowered the net amount of new XRP entering the market this month. Less new supply could ease selling pressure if demand holds steady.
The crypto industry is also watching regulatory developments. The CLARITY Act, a U.S. crypto bill, was delayed and is now expected to reach a vote in September.
As of now, XRP whale accumulation continues. Large holders are adding to positions while the price sits below the $1.06 resistance level.
