James is a gaming writer from London who has spent thousands of hours exploring titles from every genre. Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. When he's not playing or writing, he can usually be found supporting his beloved Brentford FC.
Deadpool is one of those Marvel characters that could easily have gone the wrong way when they decided to adapt him for his own set of movies. Fortunately, Ryan Reynolds did a pretty spectacular job, and it's now difficult to imagine the character without Reynolds' interpretation coming to the fore.
It seems as though the solo movies are done for now, though, with the silver lining being that the character is still being developed by Reynolds and Disney to appear in other Marvel projects. Until we get to see what those are, Deadpool is set to appear somewhere else, and though he will be brought to life by a different actor, fans are very happy with who has been chosen.
MarvelOver on YouTube, Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Arc System Works revealed the final team for upcoming fighting game release Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls. Joining the previously revealed Ghost Rider on the Samurai Outriders squad are Loki, Blade, and Deadpool, with the latter being voiced by Nolan North.
It's North's first turn as the character since his appearance in the official video game, and it's safe to say that fans are fairly pleased.
"I like Kaggy of D-pool, but I'm so glad Nolan is back. He was the Ryan Reynolds before Ryan Reynolds," one comment read.
While another added, "Deadpool in the BASE roster??? AND VOICED by Nolan North??? Even more of a reason to buy! Loki is great as always!"
"Never thought I'd hear Nolan North Deadpool again guess I'm buying this game," a third said.
"Glad Nolan North is Deadpool again. I own the Deadpool pinball machine, and he is hilarious on that one," another added on Reddit.
In revealing what fans can expect from the Samurai Outriders, Arc System Works Producer Takeshi Yamanaka shared the following:
"The Samurai Outriders are a group of dark heroes. As you might expect, they don’t start out as a cohesive unit… in fact, they’re quite the opposite. As they face threats to the world, how each of them—and the team as a whole—grows and evolves is something you can look forward to experiencing in Episode Mode."
Arc System WorksAt the same time, the developer also revealed the addition of a new stage when the game launches, with Asgard bring the rainbow to the proverbial party. It appears as a battle stage composed of five areas: the Observatory, Bifrost Bridge, Throne Room, Treasure Vault, and Yggdrasil, the World Tree.
Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls is set to launch on August 6, though Xbox players will miss out for the time being, with the game exclusive to the PC and PS5 for the foreseeable.
