With the most recent entry in the Tom Holland saga of Spider-Man movies releasing just days ago, the world has, once again, gone mad for our favorite web slinger. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already breaking box office records, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2026, as well as the highest opening weekend gross for both the United States and Canada.

Now, to coincide with the launch of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Insomniac Games has released a free update to its hit Marvel's Spider-Man 2, introducing a much-needed fix based on player feedback.

Released back in 2023 as the sequel to both Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was another instant hit, becoming the best-selling title on the PlayStation 5 as well as its fastest selling first-party title.

Spider-Man 2 only reinforces the notion that Insomniac Games is one of PlayStation Studios’ more prolific development houses. The balance of gameplay and narrative is intoxicating, and this third entry squashes any issues that plagued the first two games. These iterations of Peter Parker and Miles Morales are triumphantly human, as are the other characters surrounding them, and the genius of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 lies in introducing a villain that hopes to strip them of that humanity.

Insomniac Games Has "Fixed" The Spider-Man Brand-New Day Suit

Now, almost three years on from its launch, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is back with another update courtesy of Insomniac Games. Shared to its official Twitter/X account, the post reads as follows: "We deployed a new update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 that includes improvements to the Fresh Start suit based on player feedback. Update v 1.005.001 is live now."

It is a simple fix, yet a welcome one, as the Fresh Start suit will now become available for anyone who updates their game to v 1.005.001. Not only that, but as a nod to the beloved movies, it is not customization that you would want to miss out on. As Insomniac says, "It's included as part of the update and available to all who download it. No pre-order necessary."

With fans taking to the comments to praise its improvements on the original, it seems as though this update may be simple, but it is indeed effective and who knows? It may even give you that little bit of incentive to start a brand-new playthrough of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 this weekend.
