Marvel's "Throne Of All" Is Officially The New Infinity Gauntlet
Two of the biggest Marvel villains right now are fighting each other to claim a cosmic weapon that might make Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet look like child's play. When brought together, the six primordial singularities of each Marvel universe grant their wielder the power to rewrite the laws of physics according to the user's whims. In the classic Infinity Gauntlet storyline, Thanos turns Thor into glass, breaks Captain America's shield, and imprisons the living embodiments of the universe. However, Marvel's Infinity Stones have gradually lost their eminence in the Marvel Comics multiverse.
Even more dangerous to the Earth and the universe is when already powerful beings gain cosmic upgrades on the level of the Infinity Stones or higher.
Knull And Hela Set Their Sights On The Throne Of All
Queen In Black #5; Written By Al Ewing; Art By Iban Coello
In revenge for his defeat in King in Black, Knull has completely broken free of his dark nature and executed a devious plan to embrace the light. Abandoning the abyssal dark that helped him in his war against the Celestials, Knull seizes the legendary All-Light spear, then slays the variant Eddie Brock of Earth-62466 aka the Illuminated, and steals Thanos' Outrider army after brutally killing the Mad Titan. Hela keeps tabs on Knull, but his power quickly surpasses her expectations. By Queen in Black #5, Knull and Hela are both fighting to ascend to the Throne of All.
Knull and Hela's war to claim the Throne of All in Queen in Black is set up by The Immortal Thor's tragic ending. With Thor dead and his human persona Sigurd Jarlsson still regaining the memories of his own godhood, Asgard faces a vacuum that attracts all kinds of cosmic attacks. And even though heroes like Beta Ray Bill, Angela, and even Doctor Strange are there to protect Asgard and the Ten Realms, it's only a matter of time until a villain as big as Hela tries to take over.
Venom Lore's 6 New Colors of Symbiote Explained
The symbiote lore surrounding Marvel's Venom just underwent a major revamp, with new color-coded 'Symbiote Legions' who are about to be a big deal.
The climax of this war between Hela's darkness and Knull's corrupted light awaits them with the Throne of All, the ultimate seat of cosmic sovereignty that may grant its ruler total authority over both the material and metaphysical planes. However, the Venomworld will manifest as an entire planet composed entirely of symbiotes and their interconnected hosts, enveloping Earth into a singular collective intelligence. Through titles like Venom Unchained and Defenders of Light and Dark, Venomworld will oppose the King and Queen in Black, leading to something Marvel teases as "the last stand" for the original Venom and his current host, Mary Jane Watson.
Queen In Black Promises To Be A Worthy Sequel To King In Black
Queen In Black Raises The Stakes Five Years Later
Queen in Black is openly the direct successor to Donny Cates’ landmark King in Black epic. This time around, Ewing places Hela’s newfound, necro-magical mastery over the symbiote hive mind against an ascended Knull. As a result, the conflict is a chaotic crossfire between two competing flavors of universal oblivion, with Earth in the middle. Humanity now faces complete assimilation into Venomworld as collateral damage in a feud between the ancient Norse underworld and the primordial void.
To achieve its ambitious goals, Queen in Black must defend its place in the spotlight during a creatively packed period in Marvel Comics history. Al Ewing's Queen in Black runs parallel to Chip Zdarsky’s massive Armageddon mega-event, which is overhauling Earth-616 in the wake of One World Under Doom. Meanwhile, Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Universe line is heading towards its definitive conclusion. For Queen in Black to avoid being eclipsed, it needs to transcend standard alien-invasion tropes and leave a permanent mark on all characters involved, especially Venom, Knull, Mary Jane, and Peter Parker.
