Mystikal has a strained relationship with his son Million Tyler following his conviction in connection with sexually assaulting a woman in 2022, and a resulting 20-year sentence he received.
Lawyer Roy Maughan, who is representing the 55-year-old rapper, told TMZ Monday that the musical artist has not been successful in his attempts to communicate with his son as of late.
'Mystikal has reached out to Million to patch things up, but I don't think that's happening yet,' Maughan told the outlet.
Maughan told the outlet that Mystikal, whose full name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, was hoping to provide 'people peace' in serving his sentence.
The Grammy-nominated rapper, whose catalog includes tracks such as Shake Ya A** and Danger (Been So Long), entered a guilty plea this past March to third-degree rape.
The plea eliminated the risk of a potential first-degree rape conviction, which would have had a mandatory life sentence.

Mystikal's lawyer said that the musical artist entered a 'best interest plea' with the intent on shortening a potential sentence if convicted.
The singer was vulnerable to a potential life sentence when taking into account two past convictions, one for drug possession and a 2003 conviction on sexual battery, his lawyer told the outlet.
With the previous convictions, Mystikal would have been labeled a multiple offender, further creating potential sentencing problems for him, his lawyer told the outlet.
Those factors led to Mystikal entering the guilty plea despite an insistence the encounter he was convicted on was 'consensual,' Maughan told the outlet.
Maughan said that drug charges the rapper faced would have been difficult to contest, as law enforcement had a warrant to collect evidence following the accusations of sexual assault.
Another factor in the case was that Mystikal has remained in custody at the Ascension Parish Jail in Lemannville, Louisiana since 2022, which applies to his sentence, Maughan told TMZ.
Mystikal has accepted the terms of his sentencing, his lawyer told the outlet, and 'very well.'
Million Tyler told the outlet earlier this month that he eventually hopes to talk to his father, but is not at the point where he's comfortable doing so.

'I do plan to go and have a conversation with him at some point later in life, I couldn’t say when it will be, but I do plan to go have a conversation,' he said.
Million told the outlet he had been upset with his father, and said he hoped he would 'get the help' he needs.
In his June 16 sentencing hearing, the rapper attempted to take back his guilty plea, as he said he 'did not have sufficient opportunity to fully consider the consequences,' according to WBRZ.
His accuser told the court she hoped he would get the maximum sentence for his plea, going into detail about the brutality in the attack.
Mystikal said in court, 'If I did that to you, I deserve the max sentence,' according to the TV station.
