US stars jump on the Three Lions' bandwagon: Jason Sudeikis and Alexandra Daddario lead the A-listers throwing their support behind England in the World Cup

Hollywood has jumped on the England bandwagon as the Three Lions progress to the World Cup semi-finals this week and take on Argentina.

Team USA crashed out of the tournament when they were defeated by Belgium in the last 16, and since then several stars have thrown their support behind England.

A-listers Jason Sudeikis and Alexandra Daddario are among the stars who have been spotted at matches wearing the country's kit and colours.

There has been a glamorous feel about this particular World Cup, which has been attended by a dazzling array of stars with the final no doubt set to be a glitzy affair.

American actor Jason, 50, who stars in Ted Lasso which is filmed in Richmond, London, was spotted at the England vs Panama game last month.

Jason clearly feels an affiliation with the country after spending months at a time shooting the football based drama for Apple TV in the UK.

During his appearance at the game, Jason was wearing an England hat and replica of the kit from the finale scene in 1981 film Escape to Victory.

The film is about Allied prisoners of war who are interned in a German prison camp during WW2, who play an exhibition match of football against the national team.

White Lotus actress Alexandra, who has English and Italian heritage, was also seen wearing England merch during their game against Norway on Saturday.

Alexandra watched the game in Miami from a hospitality box wearing a red England away shirt, which she proudly showed off in a series of selfies.

Despite her support for the country, she stopped short of singing along to the national anthem as she filmed herself staying quiet while the stadium roared to life.

It marked her second appearance at an England game this competition, as she also attended the match against Ghana on June 23.

Alexandra revealed she wasn't sat far from footballing royalty Sir David Beckham, as she framed him sat behind her in one of her uploads.

American tennis star Amanda Anisimova, who has twice featured in a grand slam final, ditched Wimbledon finals weekend in favour of the World Cup.

She cheered on England during their triumph against Norway, sharing a selection of photos alongside the caption: 'We're not at the tennis anymore'.

While many Americans have opted to show support for England, Channing Tatum has had a strong affiliation for Norway after recently working with star player Erling Haaland.

Since appearing in a Nike advert alongside Haaland, Channing has been attending games wearing the team's kit and a blonde wig inspired by the player's hair.

Brand experts told the Telegraph that they believe David Beckham is one of the reasons other celebs have chosen to align with England.

After Fifa president Gianni Infantino, David is apparently the most pictured man away from the pitch at World Cup fixtures.

As well as his reliable presence in the VIP box alongside fellow stars such as Tom Cruise and Mick Jagger, David also appears on every third advert during the breaks.

American TV viewership of England matches is breaking records as the team's 3-2 victory over Mexico at the Azteca drew a combined 44,900,000 viewers across Fox and Telemundo.

A brand expert told the publication: 'It's no surprise that England is the default team for famous US personalities to support now their own team has exited,' he said.

'Few figures have had a greater impact upon American soccer than the English icon David Beckham. And he has also been a huge influence in weaving soccer into the world of fashion and celebrity. In addition, with the Premier League being by far the most popular foreign league on US [English language] TV, it's only natural that US famous faces would turn to England once their patriotic hopes had evaporated.

'With the likes of [Harry] Kane and [Jude] Bellingham delivering huge drama game after game, even sitting in the stands cheering them on provides a glorious stage for the celebrity fans. A few seconds on the stadium screen and screens in millions of households around the globe doesn't do any harm to their image.'
