The one major Marvel character who won't be appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day according to the actor who plays them themselves makes a lot of sense given the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the trajectory of Peter Parker's MCU story. Though we've only had three MCU Spider-Man movies thus far, there's already been a huge number of Marvel characters who've appeared in these films, ensuring that those who love the web-swinging hero have seen a considerable amount of his allies and enemies on-screen.

Of course, a good portion of these appearances took place in No Way Home, which was able to bring back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of Spider-Man, as well as the vast majority of their biggest movie villains from previous eras of Spider-Man's movie empire. However, Spider-Man: Brand New Day seems on track to match up with or even beat the cast number No Way Home boats, with a truly wide array of characters already confirmed to appear in the film.

Interestingly enough, though, one of the staple figures audiences associate most with Spider-Man won't be appearing in Brand New Day based on their actor's latest comments, despite having appeared previously in the MCU timeline in the role more than once. That said, given the setup we've seen for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the decision to not feature this character in the upcoming MCU movie does make a lot of sense.

J. Jonah Jameson Not Being In Spider-Man: Brand New Day Makes Sense After Spider-Man: No Way Home

J. Jonah Jameson actor J.K Simmons revealed in an interview with ComicBook that he was not a part of the cast for Spider-Man: Brand New Day despite rumours that the actor may appear in some capacity. When discussing the upcoming MCU movie, the actor stated that Jameson is "not in it, dude. I don’t know who on the internet decided that that was fact, but I ain’t in it."

While this may come as a surprise to audiences given how Jameson has played a key role in the MCU's Spider-Man movies until now, this does seem par for the course given the way No Way Home made the character more important than ever before - since he was a key figure in the negativity and aggression directed towards Peter after his secret identity was revealed.

As it stands, it seems No Way Home explored Jameson's importance in Spider-Man's life in a way that means the character doesn't need to be focused on again in this next chapter. Indeed, Brand New Day may benefit from putting the figure on the backburner for the time being, so it can best focus on the wide range of other storylines it needs to balance at once in order to live up to the high standard of its film predecessors.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Huge Cast Means J. Jonah Jameson's Absence Makes Even More Sense

The story of Brand New Day itself seems to necessitate J. Jonah Jameson's absence on some levels, too, since there is simply so much Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to have to cover in the limited runtime the film has.

We simultaneously need to see Peter coming into his own as a more solo hero, him facing off against the wide range of villains we've seen appear in the film, him interacting with Banner and the Hulk about his mutations, a full delve into what said mutations are, and him seeing MJ and Ned again while their memories are wiped, as is shown in the trailers as well.

Combine this with the premise of the main antagonist in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and their teased mind-control powers also no doubt needing plenty of screentime, and it's easy to see why the film doesn't appear to be making extra room for J. Jonah Jameson to make another return in this chapter of the MCU, as there's such a wide array of stories and characters who will need considerable chunks of screentime that the film is already at a healthy capacity, and would arguably be hurt by trying to cram any more figures into it.
